Capable of seating 60,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. As well as the gladiatorial games, other public spectacles were held there, such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era.

Although in the 21st century it stays partially ruined because of damage caused by devastating earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome and its breakthrough achievements in earthquake engineering. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions.

Now it is possible for limited number of guests only, to enhance the experience
by exploring the Colosseum underground and climbing the very top piers of Belvedere,
together in one visit.

You will be escorted by your guide and Colosseum staff on a 90 minute trip back in time to Colosseum Arena and the Underground. After a break of about 20 minutes your will continue your visit by climbing the very top of Colosseum ( the Belvedere ) for breath taking views.
Once the tour is over you may enjoy more time in Colosseum, in the area open to general public or proceed to Roman Forum and Palatine Hill for self guided visit, both areas included in your no lines admission tickets.

Your Colosseum tickets will be also valid for skip lines admissions to Roman Forum and the Palatine the day after if you prefer to split the visit in two days. ( tickets are valid 48 hours )

Access underground and to arena is in company of both Colosseum staff speaking Italia and you English guide. Parties with guides in other languages may be present at the same time. Maximum number of guests allowed underground at the same time is 25, however maximum number of guests in your English group in Colosseum underground area will never exceed 8 Please note that proof of age may be required at the entrance for any discounted tickets ( e.g. copy of passport page )
